About 5.20am: Wake up to baby crying, who needs an alarm when you have a baby?
5:30am: Alarm goes off. I’m on call today, I pray I don’t get called out. I have made a few appointments for the day.
6:30am: Gym appointment. I have a dream, one day one day; I will be a size 12 again. Amen. Breakfast and coffee for the day.
11:00am: Dental appointment. The sensodyne is not working for this sensitivity, not being able to eat fruits is not funny anymore. I have to put grapes in the microwave or let them sit out for a while before I can eat them.
Appointment complete — verdict is in, I have 10 cavities, will need 3 extractions and 1 root canal. Yeah, I’ll be right back. I remember my sister had a tooth extraction yesterday and call her to find out how it went.
Sometime afterward: I go over to my friend to finish her braids; started yesterday. She’s not home. Her kids’ friend is sick, she has to go pick her up ’cause the guardians she lives with left her alone at home to take care of the dog while they are on vacation. That’s what happens when a parent sends their kid all the way from some African country to come to high school here. She is throwing up. To go to the ER or not…I finally decide on a hot water bottle and tea, and watch her for 30 minutes. She is fine after an hour. Finally done with the hair after another 2 hours.
My phone rings, it’s the kids calling to inquire when I will be back home and to remind me I promised to take them to the library today, and to buy Band-Aid on my way back. These kids don’t forget anything.
5:20pm: Off to the library. Their joy is my Joy.
6:30pm: Tired, but I still have dinner to prepare.
8:10pm: Dinner is done. Check voicemail — definitely a long day at work tomorrow. Need to get some rest, but no, there has to be something to watch on TV — Master chef it is.
Somewhere in between it occurs to me that I have just had a whole day without playing candy crush.
