Managed to convince Samer and Khaliun to pick up my cousin Nonso, who flies in from La Coruna, and his friend Kate who flies in from London tomorrow evening. I would be in class when their respective flights arrived, and was relieved I wouldn’t have to miss class just to pick them up from the airport (Toast to good Friends) :)
Had Sushi for breakfast :) (result of being best friends with an Asian girl who works part time at a Sushi bar). First stop for the day, the ReiseZentrum in Bochum to reserve seats on the Bus for our one day trip to Amsterdam this Sunday. Realized only after we had paid that the Bus leaves Amsterdam on its return leg at 5pm :(. The Famed Red Light District isn’t as captivating in the Day as it is at Night :(
Seats on the Bus booked, and I head back to Dortmund with one thing on my mind — get home in time to eat the Beans porridge I cooked yesterday (finally learned to cook a little on my last trip to Nigeria in March). That wasn’t to be; technical disruptions caused delays of up to an hour to the train services, leaving me with no choice than go straight to Uni and boycott home :(
I totally hate my 4 hour Wednesday classes, my mind drifts off after the first 30 minutes. Hunger shortened that time frame even more drastically this time…..My mind shut out everything that had to do with “Wellen und Nabenverbindungen” and I thought and wondered..
I thought of my Beans and the “Rumble that was in my Tummy”, I thought of unfulfilled dreams, I thought of my “wasted” years at UNILAG, I thought about getting married and wondered if it’d ever be to a Nigerian girl, I thought about my exams coming up in the next couple of weeks and how unprepared I still am, I wondered about what happened to my prayer life, I thought and thought and thought…
The Lecturers “Das wäre es für Heute, bis zum nächsten mal“ jolted me outta my trance. I run to the station, take the skytrain home AND EAT THE BEANS…
