Saturday mornings have always had a meditative quality to them.
I’m up at 6:30am and I brew a cup of tea. The making of a good cup of tea is a meditation in itself. We’ll get to that some other time. Cup of tea in hand, I settle down to my timeline and other internet faffery while the house recovers from the vigil of the night before.
About an hour later, I let myself out of the house to tend my plants. This is the only time in my week that I get to play in the dirt, feed the plants and maybe, talk to them. Don’t look at me like that!
I pot up some lettuce seedlings and look in on my French beans. The lavender has finally sprouted! This is very exciting as I’ve wanted some for the longest. The Duranta cuttings look a little parched. They get a long drink of water.
Round the corner to my avocado trees, they seem to be doing ok. They are destined to be ornamental. Sad because I love me some avocadoes but they need a lot of space. I’ll have them yet, someday when I live on 10 acres. I live in hope.
The lilies in the pot look to be doing well. Very luxuriant growth if a little crowded. I can’t wait till they send out flower spikes and I can look at the pretty, pink stripped gorgeousness. I make a mental note to get help with moving the pot closer to the front door and thin them out when they are done flowering.
The lily bed is so-so. The leaves seem to have some sort of rust on them. Dear Google, how can I fix this? I discover some errant tomato plants beneath them and make another mental note to move them when they are a little bigger.
I give thanks for all the rain we’ve been having as I don’t have to lug buckets of water around for my precious ones.
*Door slams*
The house is stirring, time to get on with my day.
