July 21, 2013 — Ms A Bonrue

July 21, 2013 - bonrue

I woke up at 7am disoriented. It wasn’t the hotel room that had been home for the past 10 weeks. (Seriously, living in a hotel is overrated!) I’m moving house again for the 3rd time in 6 years. Again, I’m moving to another city.

Let me just say here that I ABSOLUTELY loathe moving. I love the fact that I have a new job…a fresh start complete with an in-mint-condition slate that I can write my new set of challenges, Joys, frustrations and eventually, resignation notice on (hehe) I just hate having to move stuff. If someone could do the moving — sorting, boxing and haulage — (FREE!), I’d be chuffed and eternally grateful. *hugegrin*

My immediate wahala was how to pack two bags and not have to make the 3hr trip anytime soon. It was WORK especially as books were involved. I kept reading in between. I’d read, laugh out loud, catch myself remember that I live alone and laugh some more. Erma Bombeck’s “Marriage Made In Heaven or Too Tired to Have an Affair” was a major culprit. At least, that one’s half-way off the long list of books in my library that I somehow haven’t read.

A few minutes to 10am, I had finished packing. Thanks to Mrs Bombeck *side eye*, I ate burnt noodles. I hurriedly cleaned up both self and flat and at 11.50am, I was good to go. (whoop whoop!) However, Rain, traffic and bad roads ensured that the trip back took almost 5 hours of my life.

Fast forward to 5.25pm where I’m at the presenters’ lounge (which is indeed an audio booth linking both studios) trying (and failing) to prepare for my 6hr shift that is due to start at 6pm with a jazz session. I have a headache. I’m knackered. My eyes are smarting. Jazz suddenly feels like rocket science. Sigh.

I’m not going to fret. I’ll just let the music move me…or not. My colleague is waving frantically at me through the glass. It’s time to take over.

I’ve got this. I’ll just look forward to a few minutes after midnight when I’ll be cooking my first meal in my new kitchen.

Noodles.

I’m grossly undernourished.
