Today I made it to the assembly, third time this term. What a miracle. The shock on the principals face was legendary :)

On my way to the staff room, I got two compliments on my self made skirt :) I’m becoming a good tailor.. *dancing etigi* Today is most def going to be a good day.

The teachers are talking about an ex-colleague who’d brought in her wedding invitation card yesterday…. Praising God for her life… Praying that ‘the rest of us’ will bring in ours before the end of the year. The rain of marriage will fall on us. See curse! Marriage at this time is not a blessing for everybody. Thank you.

All seated and settled, I look in my lesson note to find my time table. The thing has grown legs again… Just great.. Ss1 arts students will be glad…. But rara o… I must to teach today.. I must work for my 3,800 -_-

It’s like these clouds are vexing. This rain must not fall today o… Half my wardrobe is outside.

Its 11:30 and break time… I called Jss1F students to mark their attendance. 36 scruffy looking students. Some will be sixteen this year. When I was 16, I had written JAMB. I tried not think about it.

12:00 noon, SS1 Arts. These students are noisy; at least they greet me. Either I’ve done something right or my skirt is indeed fine.

“How many of you have seen a computer monitor before?” A number of hands go up

“How many of u have used 1 b4?” Three hands.

“Aunty when are we going for practicals” They’re actually listening today.

“Well…. You have only three computer in the school, and you are 143…….

“ Aunty rain oooooooo. You cant teach again oooooooooo..”

The class erupts. I don’t understand the pandemonium … It’s like these children want to chop cane today… *angry face*

Then the first drop, second, third then fourth drop land in the middle of my head. Right on that spot, that very spot. Then I understand. My anger turned to gratitude that when I was 16, I didn’t have a sieve over my head as a roof in school, and my computer monitor wasn’t drawn in chalk.

Well….

*class dismissed*
