Pay-Day Thursday!
I think conjoined twins are wonderful (link). That had nothing to do with the intended content of this article. I am hoping my initial random comment will have sparked your attention… or at least given you the impression that I am easily marveled by the variation observed in the human species. It’s awesome!
After you’ve stifled a giggle because of how cheesy that sounds, you can listen to me moan about the ridiculous amount of tax we pay in Britain and the rainy, breezy ‘spring’ weather (they need to stop teaching the four seasons in primary schools, it sets up for disappointment in adult life, if you have ever experienced a British ‘summer’ you can empathize).
So yes, my bank balance has been fed today and it’s grateful. If you have commitments you have to attend to, that payday euphoria you feel doesn’t last very long once the Direct Debit Monster, The Almighty Landlord, The Scary Student Loan Goblin and the Living Expenses Snatcher have all dipped their hands into your account and helped themselves. Silly things.
Such is life.
I’ve realized something about money. It’s a good thing to have, but it’s not a good master. Spend it, but don’t waste it. Don’t kill yourself for money; let it work its ass off for you.
Money can’t buy you decent relationships. Relationships and friendships are hard work and sometimes I wonder why I even bother. It’s only when I get a sweet message from my boyfriend or a word of encouragement/rebuke/harsh reminder from my mum or an unfunny joke from my cousin that I remember that the relationships we have are more important than what we own.
Money comes and goes, but a loyal partner, family and genuine friends can potentially last a life time. That’s my daily dose of deep thinking for today. *switches philosophical side of brain off*
IT’S PAYDAY!! MUHAHA! My debit card better just find a safe place to hide this weekend.
