I love Mondays
When a lot of people hear me say this, they feel I’m weird, because chances are, 4 out of 5 people, especially ‘9–5ers’ hate Mondays.
I call Mondays ‘miracle days.’ God has come through or done something huge for me on a lot of Mondays, especially in recent years. I also love Mondays because it’s a fresh start; a chance to do better than the previous week.
Monday is also my busiest day of the week. I spend 90% of my time moving from place to place, delivering magazines to our customers. According to our 2013 plan, deliveries are to be outsourced. But I still handle most of them…for now.
I called a customer around 9am to ask if he was ready to renew his 6 month Vanity Fair subscription. I was expecting him to give me a date when he’d be ready, but he said I could come over today. What did I tell you about Mondays?
I feel hungry. I wanted to eat breakfast at this roadside buka in Anthony whose beans & dodo is ‘the bomb’; unfortunately, when I passed by at past 8, they had not set up fully, and by 10am when I was leaving Anthony, I was already behind schedule. So, it’s another ‘junk food Monday’, Gala, plantain chips and doughnut.
Every sms that comes in fills me with excitement. I’m hoping it’s the text message that will inform me that I made it through to the semi-finals of the business plan competition. Each time, it turns out not to be the one.
17 deliveries later, it’s 6:13pm. I call it a day. A friend asked that we hang out. I feel tired, but what kind of guy would decline an offer to hang out with a beautiful, intelligent and extremely hot lady?
