I woke up this morning only because my cell phone wouldn’t stop ringing. A quick look at the clock, it was 9:34am and I knew instantly that I had annoyed my customers. I rushed out of bed with a very terrible headache, put what seemed like paste on my toothbrush while I answered the next call that came through to my cell. I was right; I had stood a customer up all thanks to my crazy night out yesterday where I drank so much that I passed out. I had overworked myself trying to please all my customers.
Anyway, I managed to bathe, put on something decent and then rushed to work on an empty stomach. I was able to appease all my disappointed customers by giving them discounts. Then I settled to reduce the heap of work on my table, (still hungover from last night’s booze) while my favourite song from ABBA (Money,Money,Money) was on replay.
Being a student and worker hasn’t really been all fun. There’s the fear that something might go wrong. What if I can’t afford the rent? What if I lose customers? What if I run out of cash? What if I get discouraged? What if my grades drop? All these thoughts and more keep disturbing my mind. Sometimes, it gets so depressing that I have to go out and give myself time alone with the stars -time to be lost in my own world…drawn away by such thoughts that one almost has to beat me with a stick to pull me out.
I am encouraged though, by the fact that I was bold enough to invest money and take risks. This makes me a real entrepreneur and at a young age too! Hopefully, I’ll have many multi-million dollar enterprises with well qualified workers, have a good looking baby boy, be an art collector, add a few pounds and still have plenty time to write in the nearest future.
I just closed from work…glad I heard the voices of my younger siblings and my parents after so long. I am now settled for a decent night’s rest.
