Every once in a while, I take a little walk in the night. Today, I had almost made it home when she shouted my name — Nkem!!!
I turned; already knowing whom it was and started walking across the road towards her. We exchanged pleasantries, and then got introduced to the smoking hot woman she had with her. She was smoking, and smoking hot — right there I started imagining all the things we could do. They waved their goodbyes, before she turned to me and asked –
Do you like that one?
I nodded, several times.
Your brother finished me yesterday!!!, she started suddenly. All I could do was laugh. Apparently she and my brother had a thing around BBM display pictures, culminating in, as she put it, him acting like the woman whilst she was having to act like the man.
Nkem, me I know you know wass’up. I know what I want and that’s me. I don’t hide my own she surmised. I was too stunned to not keep laughing.
Her name was Aisha — smoking hot, mother of four, in a violent relationship from which she was trying to get a divorce, had a boyfriend in town, rumour had it, whose help she had once used in getting her husband beat up.
She lives at the top of the street, meaning one had to go through her house to get to town. My brother and her had definitely been eyeing themselves for a while, my brother would later tell me. He had spotted her in front of her gate one evening and had purposely stopped over, at the Mallam’s place to buy whatever. It was carefully concealed bait, which she bit, as he turned up pretending to buy something too, said hi to him, and drummed up some chit-chat. They eventually exchanged blackberry pins.
When I spoke to my brother later that night, his disappointment couldn’t be more obvious, the key sticking point being the fact that she was still married.
The one thing I bothered most about it all? My chances with Tayo.
