April 12, 2013 — La Reine

Today started as an offshoot of yesterday. I had spent a few hours discussing everything from the merits of a Professor who cares about their students and is at the top of their field… to reasons the number 42 is worthy of note… to the preconceived notions people have about ‘ethnic hair’ in the work place.

On the way home, I advised a friend to imagine her future self walking about with a cane because present her wants to wear heels worthy of a freakum dress to a dance — even though there’s a hairline fracture in her foot.

I got home and set 7 alarms before happily going to bed.

After an extended moment of bliss and blockbuster quality dreams, I was cajoled out of my rest by 30 minutes of bad default alarms, MadCons ‘Beggin’ and ‘D.A.N.C.E.’ by Justice. Finally, Mary Mary’s ‘Get Up’ did the trick and I found that my room had metamorphosed into a sauna. I was torn between the desire to disrobe and the want of an open window.

I changed into workout gear, cracked a window, retweeted @DanielHonigman’s endorsement of the3six5ng (No Pressure) and proceed to catch up on blog posts.

I went for a walk at around 9 and called my sister to talk about life and its ‘ness — as it concerns new jobs, new moves and new plans. She talked about figuring out a Plan B so that if Plan A doesn’t click, I won’t have to flounder about like a chicken in rollerblades going down a steep hill on a hot afternoon.

Still, I kind of want to go in faith. Tightrope, no net.

..Practicality beckons.

It’s blustery, as Spring has punked us all and I cursed at the concept of going for a run in weather that kept trying to push me over. Still, the clouds darkened and I ran a bit — just to get home ASAP.

Enter oatmeal and schoolwork, Poundo yam and hugs over the romance/life/job woes of a good friend.

I paused to consider my own woes, and then recalled that I had an information interview in 30 minutes and a benefit concert to attend later tonight.

It is well.
