Welp, the day finally came and I somehow forgot what day today is. Everything sort of started off… late. Mr. Significant was supposed to wake me up, but of course he forgot. Baby Gee and I had an appointment and I intended to get there early. Instead, I ended up waking up at the time I planned to be at the appointment. But hey what can a Jambite Mommy do? Na so, na so I began rushing and dressing my sleeping pickin. Least I forget to mention I had to pick up the nice aunty from church and show her the ropes of American Motherhood.
We all arrived at the appointment 2 hours behind schedule, but I prayed the rain would be on our side, to scare the other Mommys away. As me and aunty de gist, and I begin to park, she noticed the front door’s giant sign, “CLOSED.” Refusing defeat, I went to the front door and read the note: “Facility closed every Wednesday… Check us at so and so location.” Cue frantic googling.
Despite the delays that now began to compound, we got to the other location and thanks to God and the rain, there were not so many Mommys waiting. It all went quicker than expected. On our way, Mr. Significant called to check on us and grumble about his day. Unfortunately but not surprisingly someone didn’t come through for him.
After knocking out the day’s errands, I finally get home to have a talk with mumsie better known as gra gra (grandma) by my son. I open up and discuss something that’s been picking at both our brains. I kind of got a response that wasn’t encouraging but expected. So I did the smart thing, I called my Big Sis who advised me and I unruffled my feathers.
If I could sum it all up…. It was kind of a push and pull day. A reminder that somehow, someway despite all the expected, unexpected delays and not so encouraging events that happen, Baba God will get us to our destinations. It wasn’t the best of days for either of us, but we — my tiny family of Mr. Significant, Baby Gee and I — with God’s help, got things done. I’m taking it as a proverbial message, it doesn’t rain forever.
